Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis Parish,
Another beautiful fall day without rain, which we desperately need, and they are getting now in Louisiana via hurricane Delta.
The reason for this mini RT is due to an e-mail we just got from the Bishop’soffice in Norwich this morning. It reads; As you may have heard, yesterday Governor Lamont issued Executive Order No. 9F amending previous Executive Orders concerning limitations on religious gatherings as the State moves into phase three (3) of its reopening plan.
Accordingly, the limitations for all religious, spiritual and worship gatherings currently in effect are as follows:
“Effective on October 8, 2020, Executive Order No. 7TT, Section 2 is amended to provide that religious, spiritual, or worship gatherings, if held indoors, are limited to no more than 50 percent of the building’s capacity or a maximum of 200 people, whichever is lower and such services, if held outdoors, are limited to the number of people that can be accommodated safely by the venue or location, provided that all persons present wear masks, unless speaking from designated safe locations, and that a distance of 6 feet is maintained between all persons or groups not from the same household.”
I am not sure I agree with this, but that is not my call. YOU must decide what is right for you. If you don’t feel safe coming to Mass, STAY HOME, as many of you have been doing.
Unfortunately, we are seeing a rise in the number of cases in our State and that is not good news. This is a very deadly disease and it’s not going to vanish any time soon. We must stay vigilant.
The Church capacity for one half or fifty percent is 100 people. I don’t think we are going to hit the number anytime soon, even at the Spanish Mass. I hope not.
A reminder of our new Mass schedule; Saturday, 4:00 pm, (English), Sunday, 9:00 am (English) and 11:00 am (Spanish)
