C-19 Promising News
RANDOM THOUGHTS, 7 27 20
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis,
Today will probably be the hottest day of the year. I hope it passes quickly. Looks like some rain tomorrow. Hope we get a lot.
On Saturday evening I got called to the hospital to anoint a lovely lady who is passing. Had nice visit with her son. The hospital only calls us now when someone is actively dying and a priest is requested by the family. I cover Saturdays. I’m not sure how the new priest at St. John’s, Father George Richards, is going to fit in, but I’m sure he will.
Our Sunday masses were the best we can do. Had a few too many at the Spanish mass. Can’t happen again. Connecticut did not become number ONE in C 19 cases going down by not following the guidelines.
The ACA video was well done as always .(https://vimeo.com/321593380) It saddens me to know that we most probably won’t reach the goal due to the pandemic / recession situation. Our Church helps so many people in so many different ways.
Tonight we are having another conference call parish council meeting. Fall from ideal but better than nothing.
But there is some good, promising, news regarding the battle against C19. Many major companies are working day and night around the world to come up with a vaccine. Since C 19 is new there are no known vaccines, so a brand new one has to be invented. With the internet and hopefully cooperation, this is being done as we speak. This is a mega project and can’t be done overnight, but we are headed in the right direction. So we keep praying and following the CDC guidelines.
New gas lines are being put in all around the neighbor of our church.
If you’re planning to come by, be ready to take a detour and following the signs. Please do not go through a stop sign and knock over some orange cones, as a parishioner did last year.
