Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis Parish,
Yes, it has been some days since the last RT. Must be the virus…
Have had three funerals and one coming up this Friday. All really nice, good people. Made the world a better place.
I met with two couples regarding their upcoming weddings that I am going to perform. One at St. Pius on December 26 and one at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford on Sunday, Nov. 1. Yes, very odd, but great couples and I like to do weddings, even ones during Covid time.
Just got the latest issue of Time Magazine and I was so excited by one of the articles entitled, “The Truth about Jesus’ wife.” My money has always been on Mary, sister of Lazarus and Martha and not Mary of Magdala. (just kidding) But, like so many other articles, it turns out not to be true. The long-standing tradition has always maintained that Jesus was single, and no real proof has ever been presented to change that. But every now and then some “expert” comes along with a new twist and then it goes down in flames.
On one news outlet I saw a story that many (?) historians doubted famous people who never existed. What do you think? King Arthur, Robin Hood, Homer, William Tell, Betty Crocker, John Henry, Uncle Sam, Superman and last but not least, you guessed it, Jesus of Nazareth. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Yesterday I emailed the most important and influential Red Sox fans around the world. (I can’t give out their names.) We voted unanimously by email that this season was a FAKE season. It should not even be put in the record books. We also want to warn baseball fans everywhere that the ghost of George Steinbrenner has put a malicious spell on the Sox and the proof is that they are solidly in last place and the Yankees are in first place and playing way above themselves. They must be getting some supernatural help from beyond the grave.
Yesterday I spent almost two hours trying to pay online my TV bill and my computer protection program. What a nightmare. Try and find a real person to talk with.
I am so thankful for the rain we got, especially on Sunday. I went outside and stood in the rain for about five minutes. What a great feeling. We had the Spanish mass in the church this Sunday. With the 13 Confirmation students, we really have to watch the total number coming to mass. The church can hold more people. If we can only get the Wi-Fi to work like it does in the hall.
