Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis Parish,
What beautiful fall weather, too bad the leaves aren’t as brilliant as usual and I’m thinking about starting a novena to St. Medardus, the patron saint of rain. Check him out on the net.
On Friday I did a singalong / communion service at Wadsworth Glenn. I stayed on the patio, singing through the window and one of the staff gave our Communion. Not an ideal situation and luckily it wasn’t too cold. “Gotta do what ya gotta do.”
On Friday night we had Confirmation and I filled in for Bishop Cote. I did many confirmations in Niantic (home of the only state prison for women) as chaplain there. 11 teenagers and 2 adults. Everything went really smoothly. Pictures to follow.
On Saturday morning I said Mass with the Gianelli Sisters in Italian, Mass with the Legion of Mary in Spanish at 10:30 am and the 4:00 pm Mass in English before our St. Francis grinder dinner and raffle drawing celebration. It was a full day and the time flew by. I was so tired…
I blessed one cat and a bunch of dogs on Saturday and Sunday. I love animals. Some pictures to follow.
Today was a busy day, mass in Italian with the Gianelli Sisters, running around doing I can’t remember, funeral serv ice at Vet’s cemetery at 1:00 pm, Good group of people. I’ll be back there tomorrow after we do a funeral for Denis O’Brien in the church at 10:30. We buried his mom last month, Doris. Nice family.
I’m going to do a singalong / communion service on Wednesday at the Middlesex Rehab Center. Not sure how we will pull it off, but we will do it. You have to be soooooooo careful with nursing homes and hospitals. This C 19 is nowhere near defeated and if we are not careful… disaster awaits us.
The raffle made about $8,000. Special thanks to Sue Gombotz and her helpers. Combined with the tag sale, we made around $16,000. Really good.
Art Wright got the St. Francis award for his faithfulness a the 9:00 am carrying the cross in and out. Picture. I’m sure there is more but my brain is tired, like the rest of my body.
BTW I got a bunch of birthday cards and congratulations at the Spanish Mass on my 115th birthday on Sunday. It was on Face Book or someplace. My birthday date was April 15, 1948. But if you want to send me a birthday card… green is my favorite color.
