Most Holy Mary Virgin of The Rosary, bless us…

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis Parish,
Another beautiful fall day. Need a lot more rain …
Been busy. Funeral on Monday and Tuesday. Was supposed to do a singalong / communion service at Middlesex Rehab, but a tooth decided to break. So, I’m off to the dentist in about an hour for a 2;40 pm appointment. The joys of getting older.
The parish center floor is growing as more stuff leaves for places unknown. I am finishing the paperwork for our raffle. Pretty simple but want to get it right the first time.
Our Saint John Paul II school subsidy bill came in the other day, little more than $19,000. If we want to keep Catholic School Education in Middletown, we have to pay for it.
Father George is fine but very busy in his new place, which is a much bigger place than here. I’m sure he is running around like mad. I do miss him.
I guess Halloween is not going to be much, even though candy sales are very high according to the media. In my years here not one ghost, power ranger, football player, ballerina or soldier has stopped by. So, three years ago I stopped buying candy. I have such great memories of Halloween in my neighborhood back in the 50’s. Times change.
Today the church celebrates the feast of the Holy Rosary. What a great prayer. I think I might start a rosary sometime soon. Not sure when, but it can easily be in more than one language. I will keep you posted.
Vatican City, Oct 7, 2020 / 04:45 am MT (CNA).-
Pope Francis said, “Today is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. I invite everyone to rediscover, especially during this month of October, the beauty of the prayer of the rosary, which has nourished the faith of the Christian people through the centuries “I invite you to pray the rosary, and to carry it in your hands or in your pockets. The recitation of the rosary is the most beautiful prayer we can offer to the Virgin Mary; it is a contemplation on the stages of the life of Jesus the Savior with his Mother Mary and is a weapon that protects us from evils and temptations. The pope said that the Blessed Virgin Mary has urged the recitation of the rosary in her apparitions, “especially in the face of the threats looming over the world.”
Sometimes the pictures don’t always cooperate and decide not to visit you. I have no idea why.
